Baptisms in the Ocean!

It seems that our Brighter Future Fellowship has a thing for Destination Baptisms – this time round: a wind-surfing beach! When we arrived (about 20 of us) there was a big French party going on – about 100 people from France were having a good time at a beach-side hotel. When we sat in their area, they politely asked us to move – no problems! We trusted that God would provide a spot and He gave us a beautiful shady spot where we sang, heard testimonies of those being baptized and prayed for each one. As we were singing, the hotel manager came over to me and apologized that we had to move and offered us chairs or everything we needed! I explained what we were doing and he was a little shocked – but came to talk with me two other times. It was amazing how this man was so hospitable to us – we were not even paying customers! We knew it was God’s favor on that beach. As the waves rolled in, five new Believers were baptized with shouts of “Hallelujah” and laughter as we celebrated. For once it was the foreigners (the French families) staring at the Chinese! They stopped their bocce ball game to watch the Chinese cheer and sing as their friends washed their sins away!

Christmas Concerts

Once again, our band Freedom:61 will be presenting Christmas concerts in our city. This year’s theme is “Come to the Light of Christmas”. We want to introduce people to the Light of Jesus Christ, pray for them to receive His Light and then share it with our world! I am hoping to purchase hundreds of glow-sticks for a “candle-lit” evening of LIGHT! Fortunately Taobao (the Chinese version of E-Bay) has EVERYTHING including glow-sticks! We depend on His Holy Spirit to Light up the night with His GLORY!

Everyone has a Story

Our Chinese brothers and sisters have wonderful testimonies that not only encourages others, but also bring glory to God as they speak out loud and publicly about what He has done. In the picture above, sisters Sunny and Summer share their testimony on the beach before their baptism. Every Thursday night we try to have at least one testimony, this can be nerve-wracking for some, but is a good exercise for us all. We must be able to share what God has done in our lives – call to memory as the Old Testament says, the things He has done in our lives. Even this week one of our children – 8 year old Silky – gave a testimony (standing before about 50 adults!) sharing what she learned this Thanksgiving as she spent time with some disabled children. At the end of her testimony she had us all sing a scripture song and recite a prayer together on a ppt she had made! Even at a young age – she has a story to tell!! Have you told your story lately? 🙂

Home for Christmas

Thankfully, I will be able to spend Christmas with my family in Minnesota! For the holiday, I will be in Minnesota, Indiana and Florida. Hope to see you then!

Trip to Israel!

This month I met my parents for a tour of beautiful Israel! About 65 friends from Community of Hope, North Heights and other churches came together as my folks and our Pastor Per and Mary Nilsen led the trip! (I was my Dad’s little helper!) I have been to Israel twice before, but this time seemed more special than ever – I couldn’t quite figure it out except that our group had wonderful worship moments together and maybe I have gotten closer to Jesus over the years!! My favorite moments were boating on Galilee – thinking, “This was HIS lake!” and some special worship moments in Jerusalem. I stayed in Israel a few days after the tour and visited my good friend Brittany from Camp du Nord days and then I left – just three days before a rocket was launched towards Jerusalem. We all continue to pray for the Peace of Jerusalem!

THANK YOU!!

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to

bind up the brokenhearted,

to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners.
